"In 2014, Moon Mistress, an awesome band in their own right, reformed with Dekonstruktor as their new moniker, and released the album 'Eating The Universe' a monumental slab of acid soaked doom sludge. Dekonstruktor likes to think of itself as 'lo-fi, but really, they're doing themselves an injustice, because whilst this release is by no means brightly polished, the quality of the recording is enough to enhance the sheer immensity of the riffs.

After a brief into, we are subjected to the low end fuzz of the title track ' Eating The Universe' before the bulldozing, punishing '14' assaults the ears with a two minute blast of deathly sludge. My personal favourite 'To the Red Part 2' follows. This is one of those tracks that can't be played singly. Once finished, you can't help but play it again and again, mesmerised by the spacey, grooves interrupted by a heavy psychedelic interlude, before catapulting you back into orbit. 'Mindcutter' doesn't bring you back down to Earth, but rather crushes you with its doom sludge vacuum before the album finishes off with the coma inducing, industrial tinged monster of a track 'Dekonstruktor'

Subsequent releases became more and more experimental, too experimental for my tastes, but the album 'Eating The Universe' doesn't just eat it, it chews it up and spits it right out."

Теплой майской ночью лунная госпожа попирает белой ногою своей колышущуюся дорожку в мерно переваливающихся волнах каннабисового поля, негромко напевая травяные гимны, приходящие в ее черносмольную голову невесть откуда. Возможно, она слышала их на шабашах электрического волшебника и ковена его бесчисленных последователей и подражателей, а может быть, ей их напели сыны Отиса… Но кого это волнует в эту ночь? Уж точно не госпожу; змея улыбки играет на багряных лепестках ее губ. Ее походка легка, ее мысли безмятежны, ее взгляд устремлен в угольно-черное небо и посему она не замечает, как ее белая обнаженная ступня давит затаившуюся в траве алую финскую сколопендру. Иглы раскрошенного хитина пронзают молочную кожу и ядовитые вещества, бурлившие во внутренностях тысяченогого создания, жадно всасываются её кровью. Растекаясь по извитым ветвям сосудов, проникая в мельчайшие норы капилляров, проталкиваясь с порциями крови сквозь холодное сердце, вещества меняют сущность хозяйки, являя миру Деконструктора, ведомого паразитом, наполняющим каждую клетку своей жертвы. Первый шаг его не оставляет следа на омытой светом месяца траве. Второй он ступает, паря над океаном поля. Третий жутким, лютым басом содрогает красно-черные стены ледяного космоса, отражающие зарево пожара, охватившего бушующее поле. Следующий лютый басовый аккорд морозным ураганом сметает пылающие стебли, оставляя по себе лишь черноту.

Изменения, коснувшиеся творчества московского трио The Moon Mistress, действительно оказались настолько радикальными, что потребовали смены названия группы. Фундаментальное утяжеление звука, до набухания и потрескивания вен накачанного басом, от которого ноют зубы, вибрируют ребра и звенят стаканы у соседей в окрестных домах. Резкий разворот в риффостроении в сторону классических схем олдскульных LOINEN (т.е., безупречный выбор одного единственного, лениво клокочущего бетонного риффа, который не навязнет паклей скуки на искуренных зубах, несмотря на склизкие десяти- и двадцатиминутные циклы), пульсирующих и вводящих в транс, перемежаемый приветами в сторону Курта Дональда К. («14») и все ещё очевидно нежно любимых москвичами ELECTRIC WIZARD («To the Red Part 2»). Глобальное охлаждение атмосферы, из которой выветрились теплые древесно-угольные и травяные нотки «VVitches» и «The Wicker Man» (это уже даже не stoner, это самый настоящий acid) и остался только космос. Причем космос Скотта и Кэмерона, в котором нет клевых приторчавших UFO-навтов, зато ксеноморфов, жаждущих полакомиться теплым мяском – в избытке. Считаю смену курса необычайно успешной, выбранную ныне концепцию – предельно свежей для России, а альбом – альбомом года в русском doom’е."

"I love music in all its shapes and forms but even I have my limitations. And as much as I am open to discovering new things every now and then I do stumble upon things that make even me speechless. Sometimes because it is so good that I don’t know what to say, and sometimes because it is so beyond description. DEKONSTRUKTOR are not that hard to understand. This is heavy, drone-like doom with a slight psychedelic touch. Not too much variations but then you don’t really need that much variation to make it good. And this is the kinda stuff that I like. Heavy as hell and slower than paint drying."

"Russian progressive doom metal band Dekonstruktor was formed in 2014 out of the band Moon Mistress. Their first cassettes, Eating the Universe and Fuck Life We Go Further, have now been reissued on CD by Russian label No Name. There is not a lot of available information about Dekonstruktor other than they are the trio of Memphis (bass), Mitya (drums), and Garish AKA Garish Cyborg (guitar). They released their debut album Eating the Universe in 2014, with the reissue extending the final track “Dekonstruktor” from 18 to 30 minutes. The album opens with the brief introduction, “Out,” and almost immediately launches into the nine minute title track of ponderous doom metal following a slow I-VI-V-I chord progression on distorted bass and guitar. This track sets the stage for the rest of the music on the album. Dekonstruktor is slowly gnawing away at the universe, devouring it one small bite at a time, endlessly chewing each morsel like a piece of gristle. This mind-numbing hypnotic doom-laden sonic sludge is perfect for the depths of deepest Mordor. But the music is so lethargic I began to wonder how the band can remain awake while performing. They are akin to mindless automatons plodding through a swamp. The extension of “Dekonstruktor” is interesting in that the original monotonous dirge stops about 18:27 with dead silence. Then a slow crescendo of cyclic searing electronics takes over, much like something you would expect from Conrad Schnitzler, with the ending so harsh that if the volume is too loud, your ears will bleed. By all means, do not listen to this music in the car on a long road trip, you may not survive!"

"Лунная госпожа прошла свой Путь (состоящий из 666 путешествий, если вы понимаете о чём я) и воплотилась в Деконструктор. Играют те же ребята и, если поверхностно послушать, ту же музыку. Или нет? Похоже многое поменялось в самих ребятах и в их музыке это отразилось заметно. Очень понравились тэги на бендкемпе, отражающие суть - metal, acid, lo-fi, похоже это правда.

Что можно ожидать от одной из сильнейших банд в жанре и на мой (и не только) взгляд группы №1 на пост-советском пространстве? Новой, сильной, актуальной и глубокой пластинки хотелось, очень ждал - вот она. Короткий отзыв от Бога Бухлы: "там просто надо слушать и охуевать)".

"(as) Dieses Album wurde schon 2014 in rein digitaler Form veröffentlicht und erschien drei Jahre später auch auf physischem Tonträger. Es ist das Debüt der umbenannten „Moon Mistress“ und steht im Zeichen des Doom Metal der pechschwarzen Sorte. Somit hält es Vergleichen mit dem aktuellen, facettenreicheren und letztlich nicht nur immerzu heavy drückenden Schaffen der Russen nicht stand.

Der Sound von „Eating the Universe“ bleibt über alle sechs Songs hinweg ungehobelt, ja nicht einmal zaghaft glatt poliert. Somit erinnern „Dekonstruktor“ in vielen Momenten an „Acid King“ oder eine völlig entschleunigte Version von Eyehategod. Davon abgesehen, dass es sich bei den Mitgliedern um verkappte Südstaaten-Amerikaner zu handeln scheint, haben sie den Dreh perfekt raus, wenn es darum geht, ihren Hörern das Gefühl zu vermitteln, in die Leere gesogen zu werden.

Nach kurzem Intro verbreitet das neunminütige Titelstück mit praktisch nur einem getragenen Riff und verhallten Rufen statt Gesang eine verzweifelte Stimmung. Am Ende heulen die Gitarren kurz auf, ehe das Trio in den Planierraupen-Modus wechselt und uns mit etwas schnellerem Achtel-Rhythmus plättet. Unschön ist dabei der Umstand, dass die Frequenzspitzen produktionsbedingt „geclippt“ werden.

Nicht dass man darum fehlenden Druck bemängeln müsste … Nach der kurzen Hardcore-Eruption „14“ entfaltet sich mit „To The Red Part 2“ ein in Teilen melodischer Zwölfminuten-Track, den man auch deshalb als Fixpunkt des Albums ansehen kann, weil er mittig platziert wurde. In jedem Fall verdichten „Dekonstruktor“ in diesem Stück all ihre Vorzüge: Plakative Härte, eine subtil klaustrophobische Atmosphäre und einfach auch eine stimmige Spannungskurve, die ohne doppelten Boden auf Musiker mit Verstand hinweist.

Gerade Gitarrist und Schreihals Garish weiß, was er da tut, und wohingegen „Mindcutter“ als kürzeste Nummer zugleich auch die zugänglichste ist, tobt sich die Band im nach ihr selbst benannten Finale hemmungslos aus, ohne dass man die zweite Hälfte (nach 15 Minuten Spielzeit folgt eine kurze Pause) ernst nehmen müsste. Hierfür haben „Dekonstruktor“ nämlich lediglich Störgeräusche aufgenommen, die man getrost außen vorlassen darf.

Selbst wenn sich „Eating the Universe“ nicht mit dem gegenwärtigen Stand der Dinge bei der Gruppe vergleichen lässt, ist die Scheibe zumindest Freunden derber Sludge-Mucke eine bis zwei Rotationen wert; an die Größen des Genres reichen „Dekonstruktor“ trotz ihrer unleugbaren Qualitäten nicht heran, zumal die Klassiker in diesem Bereich ohnehin schon geschrieben wurden und es schwer ist, etwas wenigstens Gleichwertiges nachzureichen."

"The first thing I thought of, when putting this album to play, by the for me totally unknown Russian band DEKONSTRUKTOR, was a doomy and a tad more fucked up and eerie version of the old THORNS demos, as the intro named 'Out' and the beginning of the titletrack has a nice distorted bass rumbling away, with a steady simple drumbeat and a raw noisy recording. Though then a quite reverbed vocal sets in, that actually fits this universe, that the band is building up, quite well. What I thought would become noisy, experimental doomy eerie Black Metal turns out to be a tad droning eerie Funeral-ish Doom Metal with a twisted and distorted Doom Rock element, tour de force. And it continues in that cycle, quite well done actually, if you have the right mindset to absorb the music and droning noise. There aren't many vocals present, and that is quite okay. The few times the vocals are used, it is effectful, but the music in itself is quite captivating when its darkness unfolds. The titletrack and the last track, the half hour long 'Dekonstruktor' (if you count the silence before it ends) are the most interesting and massive pieces on this album, which is the band's first effort. They've put out an EP, two splits and a full length last year, since the release of this beast, releases I have to check out now, my curiosity has been sparked! Wander into the everdarkgreen: "

Większość płyt przysyłanych do nas przez Gaba z Nihilistic Holocaust trafia do Astusa, bo to przeważnie są materiały z death / black metalem, a wiadomo, że Marcin lubi się zanurzać w takie właśnie dźwiękowe odmęty. W przypadku niejakiego Dekonstruktor'a oszczędzę mu katuszy i narzekań jaka to bardzo nie jest "jego" muzyka i wezmę zawartość "Eating The Universe" na własne barki, bo też zdecydowanie bliższa jest mi ta konwencja niż jemu. W sumie nie wiem co ma wspólnego francuska Nihilistic z tym wydawnictwem, skoro wkładka (dostałem promo CD z wkładką do... kasety!) brandowana jest logiem totalnie nieznanego mi labelu Visceral Circuitry Records. Ale chwila buszowania w internetach nakreśla sytuację - kapela pochodzi z Rosji, ten materiał oryginalnie został wydany w 2014 roku, a label, dzięki któremu w zeszłym roku ukazał się "Eating The Universe" na kasecie jest francuski, więc być może jest to coś na zasadzie sub-labelu Nihilistic. No nieważne, wszystko jest w sieci - kto chce znajdzie niezbędne info.

Przechodząc w końcu do muzyki warto zwrócić uwagę na etykietki - doom oraz industrial. Dla mnie w pierwszej chwili połączenie nie mieszczące się we łbie, ale kilka odsłuchów tego materiału zdołało ów stan rzeczy zmienić. Okazuje się bowiem, że te gatunki więcej łączy niż dzieli, a ich fuzja może przenieść zaskakująco dobre efekty. Oczywiście część tego znacie wszyscy z krążków Godflesh, jednak u Dekonstruktora zdecydowanie bardziej wyróżnia się ta doom'owo-stoner'owa otoczka. Począwszy od brzmienia, poprzez leniwe, ciężkie czy wręcz ociekające smołą tempa na zakręconych wokalach skończywszy. Tak mi sie jakoś skojarzyli też z chłopakami z bielskiego Shine, którym również rzadko kiedy się śpieszy. A gdzie ten industrial zapytacie? I co on tak naprawdę w ich przypadku oznacza? No jest przede wszystkim pełniącym funkcję intra paradoksalnie nazwanego "Out" - no można wyjść z siebie słuchając tych dźwięków, nie powiem, he he. Na reszcie krążka jest on jakby pomiędzy wierszami, nie są to oczywiste zapożyczenia, a jedynie subtelne nawiązania. Oglądając sobie ociekającą krwistoczerwoną wkładkę spodziewałem się też bardziej radykalnego, chłodnego i wyrachowanego brzmienia, a to jednak jest żywe i zaskakująco organiczne. Taka wersja industrialnych klimatów nie każdemu będzie odpowiadała o ile w ogóle jej się tutaj doszukacie. Muzyka na tej płycie przypomina dudniące w oddali maszyny budowlane, może działające gdzieś pod ziemią świdry, a może wbijającego w ziemię stalowe belki kilkunastotonowego kafara? Wiecie, tego typu skojarzenia. Totalnie pojechany pod tym względen jest aż, uwaga nie zesrajcie się, 30 minutowy ostatni numer. Co prawda ostatni kwadrans to dziwne szumo-trzasko-piski, ale czujecie ten rozmach, prawda? Dobrze też, że trafiają się tu nieco żywsze fragmenty a do takich zaliczyć można "14". I nie, nie trwa on 14 minut, tylko dwie ;) Bo oprócz tego wyjątku cała reszta to jeden wielki pieprzony trans oparty na zapętlonych stonerowych riffach natchniony tymi wszystkimi "industrialnymi" dodatkami. Chłopaki grają też koncerty i obczaiłem sobie na YT jeden taki wideobootleg - trzeba powiedzieć, że na żywca te dźwięki robią nawet większą robotę, choć jak wiadomo nic nie zastąpi wtłaczania tego hałasu przez słuchawki kilkanaście minut przed zaśnięciem! Co też sam praktykowałem kilka nocy z rzędu. Polecam wszystkim sonicznym dewiantom - nie będziecie rozczarowani!"

"Dekonstruktor are a different animal than most bands I review. I guess you could call them progressive or somewhat avant-garde doom metal that achieves a dark atmosphere through sludgy droning feedback doom metal as a mainstay, as well as other elements from bits of crazy grind to industrial sounding effects tweaking and reverberating mental audio wash. The vocals tend to be like audio lifted from demented, trippy scary ‘70s exploitation movies, far off, haunting and echo-y and a little disorienting, but in a good way. For the most part though everything is extremely atmospheric, meant to set you off traveling into that grey area of your brain where you are in a fog, caught between sadness, confusion, anger, melancholy journey through a hallucinogenic hypnotic lens. It is not the easiest thing to describe in a review, but damn, I like it an awful lot and can recommend this if you like any of the above descriptions and as a doom fan are not adverse to something a little different and a little mentally challenging."

"Bereits auf ihrem Debüt – nach der Umbenennung von The Moon Mistress – rühren Dekonstruktor aus Moskau den zähflüssigen Mörtel an. Tempo ist etwas für Falschfahrer, das Trio setzt die BPM-Zahl tief unten an, die Gitarren ebenfalls. Man möchte gar nicht wissen, was da an Text über den warmen Doom gelegt ist. Und wenn die Band dann doch mal das Gaspedal entdeckt, stottert der Motor, anstatt zu brettern. Schnell halten die Jungs nur kurz durch, die Tracks sind in der Regel lang, bis zu 18 Minuten, und wenn sie mal schnell sind, wird aus dem Doom eine dunkle Art von Stoner, inklusive Gegniedel. Angenehm, dass die Band dabei trotzdem Schönheit zulässt, etwa in „To The Red Part 2“, dessen erster Teil lediglich auf einem Split-Tape mit Сдоба zu haben ist. Die Band verliert sich in ihren monotonen Riffs, der Hörer recht schnell ebenfalls. Samples und Störgeräusche reichern das Brett an und lassen es ins Nichts ausfransen. Eine dunkle Reise."
